While kickin’ it in Kyiv, French Prez Emmanuel Macron dropped a bombshell on Saturday, spillin’ the tea that the US had promised to keep an eye on a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine suggested by Kyiv’s European buddies. Macron spilled the deets that the ceasefire would mainly be watched by the US, with all the Europeans chippin’ in. This ceasefire is supposed to set the stage for some immediate talks and negotiations to bring about a solid and long-lasting peace.

The bigwigs of France, Britain, Germany, and Poland paid a visit to Kyiv, hangin’ with President Volodymyr Zelensky for some real talk. This rare joint visit was all about puttin’ the pressure on Russia to agree to a ceasefire. As soon as they touched down in the morning, Zelensky, Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer hopped on a call with US President Donald Trump.

Trump proposed a 30-day ceasefire without any conditions as a first step to end the conflict. But Putin, always tryna dodge commitments, has been findin’ ways to avoid agreeing to anything more than a token ceasefire to keep the Americans happy. Ukraine and its European pals have decided to call out Russia to accept a 30-day ceasefire starting on Monday, as per Ukraine’s foreign minister.

Macron also threw some shade, warnin’ that if Russia dared to break the 30-day ceasefire, they would be hit with some serious coordinated sanctions from Europe and the US. Talk about playin’ hardball, huh? Starmer chimed in, sayin’ there was total unity among Kyiv’s allies when it came to pushin’ for that 30-day ceasefire with Russia. Looks like everyone’s on the same page, for once.
